So for this week’s artist I decided to go with a fashion designer named Marc Jacobs. I chose a fashion designer because I felt like they have such a broad range of things to talk about. Marc Jacobs is an American Fashion designer that started off his career in the Parsons school of design. After that he landed a position at Perry Ellis and progressed to be the creative director for Louis Vuitton from 1997–2014. Jacobs decided to start off his own label and produce his own brand. He has broad items with his name on it from perfume, cosmetics, clothing, shoes, bags, you name it. Not only is Jacobs brand just for adults he has three collections, two collections for adults and one for children.

Marc Jacobs has a broad range of products such as perfumes, bags, shoes, clothing, cosmetics, and so on. As previously stated he also has a few collections, every single item has its own twist to it. Every item is a form of art. I’m going to use his clothing and bags as an example. For example his clothing ranges from very classy dresses to sweatpants with logos representing his brand. Another example is his bags range from small to big and from extravagant colors to our traditional colors. The style changes as well. When i was on his website he has purses that are super cute for a night out but then he also has more of the new trendier purses that have more of a street wear type look. I like how his brand has a broad range of items that doesn’t just target a specific style. Everyone can feel included and like a few of his items.

Marc Jcobs is a very creative and extremely talented artist yet he does get inspiration from a few places. For example he mentions that he got inspiration from the visually rich films Amadeus and Purple Rain. This film inspired one of the lines he created back when he was only 21 years old. Jacobs most famous line has probably been the one he created in the 1990s with a grunde type look. What’s crazy is that the company he worked for hated it but the critiques loved it. After that he realized he could start off his own brand so that’s what he did.

Personally I love the items Marc Jacobs creates. I love the artwork behind every item. For example I own a few of his perfumes and they smell amazing. The smell is the main part that attracts me to the product but also the detail into the packaging is amazing. For example I have the perfume Daisy by Marc Jacobs and first off the perfume has a light pink, rose gold color in the clear bottle which makes it look appealing to the eye. Second off the top of the bottle has daisys all over. They range in size and in color there’s some white and some baby pink ones. It doesn’t play any part in the perfume but honestly it’s artwork he added onto his packaging. Also on the box it came in if i remember correctly it was a really cute shade of pink and it also had daisys all over the box super cute!

In conclusion Marc Jacobs is an extremely talented artist. Every single one of his items has a type of artwork behind it even if you don’t realize it.
